How to save an online drawing as a PNG

PNG is a practical format for sketches because it keeps sharp edges, supports transparency, and works in documents, slides, emails, and most design tools.

Basic steps

  1. Finish your drawing on the canvas.
  2. Choose the background you want before exporting.
  3. Click Save PNG in the top toolbar.
  4. Rename the file if you need a clearer project name.

White background or transparent background?

Choose a white background for notes, worksheets, and documents. Choose transparent when the drawing needs to sit on top of another image, slide, or design. If you are unsure, white is usually safer because the exported image will look predictable everywhere.

How to avoid blurry exports

Use a brush size that stays readable after resizing. Very thin lines can disappear in messaging apps or presentation slides. For diagrams, a brush size around 5 to 8 pixels is often easier to read than a 1 or 2 pixel line.

What PNG is best for

PNG is best for line art, annotations, simple diagrams, screenshots, and transparent overlays. It is not the smallest format for photos, but it is reliable for clean browser drawings.
